The man behind the commonplace
About
I'm Gee Barron — writer, contemplative, follower of Christ. This site is my commonplace book: a place to think in public.
What I do
I write about theology, prayer, literature, and the slow work of becoming a person. I publish a letter most Saturdays — long-form, unhurried, hand-typeset. If that sounds like something you want in your inbox, subscribe here.
Formation
I was shaped by the King James Bible, Dostoevsky, Wendell Berry, Marilynne Robinson, Simone Weil, and a love of liturgy and tradition I came to late and haven't quite settled a name to. Protestant, unresolved, drawn to the old rhythms without following the whole Roman road. I am trying, imperfectly, to be a contemplative in ordinary life.
This site
The design is deliberately quiet. Eggshell and near-black. Fraunces for the serifs, Bricolage for the display. Built with SvelteKit. No trackers. No analytics. No nonsense.
